To obtain a marriage license, the couple must appear in person at the City Clerk's office to complete the application. Marriage licenses are issued by appointment only (current office hours) . Please email our office in order to request an appointment: cityclerk@yonkersny.gov.
Applicants must provide a certified, long form birth certificate and photo identification in the form of a driver's license or passport. If either applicant is 16 or 17 years of age, they must appear with both parents and copies of their birth certificates. If divorced, originals or certified copies of divorce papers, in English, must be provided. Any Document not in English must be accompanied by a notarized English translation.
There is a 24 hour waiting period before the marriage can be performed and the license must be used within 60 days.
Marriage licenses, once issued, can only be used anywhere within New York State.
The fee for a marriage license is $40.00 payable in cash, check, money order or credit/debit card.

IN PERSON REQUESTS FOR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES ONLY:
The office is open Monday through Friday (except holidays).Walk-ins are welcomed for Marriage Certificates. The applicant must be at least 18 years old and must have valid photo identification. Marriage Certificates can only be obtained by the individuals listed above.

The City Clerk's Office is located in Room 107 at City Hall, 40 South Broadway, Yonkers, New York 10701. For driving directions, enter 87 Nepperhan Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10701 in your GPS device. It will take you directly to the municipal parking lot adjacent to City Hall.
All major credit cards are accepted, including American Express®, Discover®, MasterCard®, and Visa®.
Photo Identification is required by applicant along with completed marriage copy form. The fee for a Marriage Certificate is $10.00 payable in cash, check, money order or credit/debit card.
